Harvest Ball: A Celebration of Sharing & Community
The Harvest Ball marks the beginning of the Chicago Ball Season, setting the tone for the months of dance, celebration, and camaraderie that follow. As we transition into the cooler months, we gather to share the bounty of the season—not just in food and drink, but in company, conversation, and dance.
In many cultures, the harvest is a time of gathering and gratitude, a moment to come together before the long winter ahead. This ball is our way of honoring that tradition—sharing what we love with others, whether it’s a favorite bottle of wine, a beloved cheese, or simply the joy of movement on the dance floor.
No one comes to the Harvest Ball empty-handed. Guests are encouraged to bring something to share—a bottle of wine, a cheese or two, or another treat you love. This is not a formal wine tasting, but a celebration of abundance, where we share the things that bring us joy.
The Evening’s Schedule:
• Foxtrot Class – The perfect way to start the evening, focusing on graceful movement and easy elegance around the floor. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or brand new, this class will have you gliding with confidence in no time.
• Social Dancing – Throughout the night, enjoy open dancing to a lively mix of ballroom, swing, and Latin music. Dance if you’d like, or sit back and soak in the atmosphere—ball season is as much about connection as it is about dancing.
• Fledermaus Quadrille (Part 1) Class – A spirited and theatrical group dance, the Fledermaus Quadrille is a highlight of Viennese ball tradition. In this class, we’ll learn the first part of this delightful and often hilarious dance, setting the stage for future balls where we’ll dance it in full.
• Wine & Cheese Sharing – Each guest (or couple) is invited to bring a bottle of wine and a cheese or two to share. The only rule? Bring something you love—a wine you’re proud to introduce to others, a cheese that makes you happy. We’ll provide crackers, serving trays, and all the essentials.
This gathering isn’t just about dancing—it’s about creating a tradition of generosity and community. As the days grow shorter and the nights longer, we set the precedent for the months ahead: we share, we celebrate, and we keep each other warm with laughter, movement, and good company.
