Introducing Movement & Mindfulness at Ballroom Dance Chicago
An Invitation to Move, Breathe, and Be Present
At Ballroom Dance Chicago, we’ve always believed that dance is more than just movement—it’s a pathway to presence, connection, and transformation. But over the years, we’ve come to realize something even deeper: we can’t train dancers to their full potential without addressing the whole person—body, mind, and nervous system.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new branch of our studio: Movement & Mindfulness—a curated series of experiences that blend dance, breathwork, sound healing, and somatic practices to support not just technique, but well-being on every level.
This isn’t a departure from our mission—it’s an evolution. While ballroom, Latin, and swing styles remain central to what we do, we’re now expanding to include practices that help dancers move with more ease, awareness, and resilience. And because we believe these tools benefit everyone—not just dancers—these sessions are open to all, no dance experience required.
Whether you’re training for a performance, managing stress, or simply seeking a deeper connection to yourself, Movement & Mindfulness at Ballroom Dance Chicago offers a space to breathe, explore, and grow.
What You Can Expect
Over the next six months, we’ll be hosting pop-up classes and special events that explore the intersection of movement and mindfulness. These might include:
- Somatic Yoga – Grounding, gentle sessions that improve body awareness and release tension.
- Breathwork & Embodiment – Learn to use breath as a tool for emotional regulation, focus, and energy.
- Sound Baths – Restorative sound healing experiences designed to quiet the mind and relax the nervous system.
- Mindful Movement Sessions – A fusion of freeform dance, guided meditation, and somatic exploration.
These classes are designed to help you move with greater ease, breathe with intention, and feel more grounded in your body.
Why Pop-Ups?
We’re rolling out these experiences as pop-up events to keep things fresh, flexible, and responsive to what our community needs. That means each class is a little different, and each one is a unique opportunity to try something new.
Keep your eyes on our newsletter, Instagram, and website for upcoming class dates and announcements. You won’t want to miss them!
Whether you're stepping off the ballroom floor or stepping into something entirely new, Movement & Mindfulness invites you to pause, breathe, and reconnect—with yourself and the world around you.
See you in the studio. 🌿
