Dancers of the Month - Nov 2019
Meet Marco Ravaglia and Jessie Chen- our November students of the month! They both grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. While Jessie has been in Chicago for 6 years doing her PhD in Neurobiology, Marco moved here about 4 years ago and works as a software developer.
They got started at BDC before they were married in October 2018. They wanted to do something to surprise their wedding guests. Self-admittedly, neither were known for being skilled on the dance floor, so they thought lessons would be a great idea. They called BDC to see if they could do crash course wedding lessons and great relationship developed! In the end, it was great to surprise and impress their guests. Especially Marco's mother who is passionate about dancing, so she was particularly surprised and happy.
A few months after their wedding dance crash course, Marco and Jessie started coming to group lessons and have been with the studio ever since!
Why did you come back to BDC after your wedding lessons?
“We like BDC because it’s a friendly, laid-back environment. We learn what we want to learn without being too stressed out about getting it 100% right. That way we can always focus on having a good time and decompress from our stressful jobs.
Definitely our goal is to have fun, and connect better as a couple. We also both want to be more confident when we are out dancing at a bar or club or wedding.”
What would you say to someone who is thinking about taking classes here?
We highly advise it! If you are an absolute beginner dancer, it's a fantastic place to start. If you have some experience, the more advanced level classes are designed so that you're always challenged to the next level.
