Ballroom Dance Lessons in Chicago
Foxtrot. Social Dance. Tango. Waltz. Viennese Waltz.
If you’re looking to start a new hobby, spice up date nights, or just do something new, try a Ballroom dance class! We offer private lessons and group classes. Both types of lessons are BYOB and are open to beginners and experienced dancers alike.
Ballroom and social dance styles are perfect if you’re a couple who is looking for a way to move more comfortably on a wedding, black tie, or gala dance floor. Or even in your own living room!
While these styles have a stereotype of being stuffy or difficult, we teach them in an approachable and useful way. (Read more about our approach below!)

Private Ballroom Dance Lessons
Private lessons, for 1-2 people, give you one-on-one attention from your instructor. They can also be a bit easier to schedule as you aren’t limited to the group class schedule. Lessons take place at our Lakeview and West Loop studios Monday through Friday evenings and Saturday’s until 4pm. Private lessons allow you to focus on the Ballroom dances that interest you like Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, and Viennese Waltz. Social ballroom is ideal for someone looking for a fusion of styles they can use on any dance floor.
If this sounds like a good place for you to start, book a 1st Private Lesson for 1 or 2 people.
Ballroom Group Classes
Group classes at Ballroom Dance Chicago are a bit different than traditional studios. You come in with your own partner and dance with them the entire time. Your teacher will move between each couple offering individual instruction so both beginners and experienced dancers are welcome. Classes are limited to 4-5 couples per instructor to make sure you get plenty of attention.
We offer three types of group classes:
Four-week sessions in Lakeview allow you to keep building your skills week to week.
Drop-in group ballroom classes at either studio are best if your just want to try out a lesson or if your schedule makes it hard to commit to multiple classes.
Private group classes at either studio are great if you’re looking for a fun event or experience with a group of your friends and/or family
How is Ballroom Dance Chicago Different Than Other Partner Dance Studios in Chicago?
At BDC, we love dance and want you to be able to use it all the time. We focus on teaching you to dance in a way you will use in real life situations. While we can teach you syllabus steps and competition styling, this is not what the majority of people want. Most of the people we meet just want to feel confident (and like themselves) on a dance floor so that is what we choose to focus on.
At Ballroom Dance Chicago, lessons can be used for any dance style(s) and goals that interest you. All lessons will be taught at your pace of learning with your specific goals in mind. No ulterior motives or agendas.
So whether your dance floor is your kitchen, a Latin club, a Swing club, or a wedding/gala… Let’s get dancing!
