Swing Dance Group Classes
We offer a variety of swing group classes in styles such as East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, and more!
Our Semi-Private group classes break the mold of traditional group instruction, where typically, a teacher demonstrates to a large audience without much individual interaction. By limiting our class sizes, we create an intimate learning experience akin to shared private lessons, allowing for individual attention to each couple. This structure fosters a superior learning environment through personalized guidance.
In every semi-private class, we focus on providing personalized attention, ensuring we meet the unique needs of each dancer. We take extensive notes after every session to craft a personalized progression for each participant. Whether you join for an occasional drop-in or commit to a 4-week session, your advancement is tailored to your learning pace and style. Please note that most of our classes are designed for couples.
If you’re looking for the classic approach, we offer swing in our social classes, DanceSport classes, and workshops where we invite you to skip, twirl, jump, and jive to the energetic beats of Swing music, enhancing your rhythm and musicality across various styles and tempos. These classes don’t require a partner so they’re great for social dancing and meeting new people. In our spacious Lakeview studio, we extend your experience beyond the 45-minute mark, leaving the floor open for practice to the backdrop of lively tunes — and yes, we’re BYOB!

Swing/East Coast Swing
Our go-to swing class, which focuses on social dancing. We use the general term “swing” because we want to teach you to dance to the music you hear out in the world, not just traditional swing music. These classes can include Single Swing and Hustle/Smooth Swing, East Coast Swing, and Charleston. Essentially, we teach you how to get creative with movement and music with all the vibes of swing.
West Coast Swing
The cooler, younger brother to East Coast Swing. Traditionally danced to blues and R&B, West Coast has taken a fun turn in recent times, with dancers using all sorts of contemporary music, including hip-hop. The dance is characterized by an elasticity between dancers, which is the result of extension and compression between partners. West Coast is a slot dance (the leader and follower move back and forth along a narrow rectangular area) unlike other swing dances that are rotational in nature.
Lindy Hop
Originating in Harlem in 1928, the name came from Charles Lindbergh’s “hop” from New York to Paris, which was contemporaneous with the dance.
Lindy Hop is typically danced with 6 and 8-count movements, and is a low, bouncy, and energetic dance. Imagine a combination of swing, jazz, and pure happiness wrapped up in one dance. With Lindy Hop, you get to let loose, throw yourself into spins and twists all while grooving to swinging music.
This style is introduced at intermediate level instruction.
